Shed construction begins … and at last, a new shed…

SHED CONSTRUCTION BEGAN IN 2016… After three years, the lease for the use of Council land at Old Talunga Park was signed, and so the Shed is now nearing completion.  There is still work needed on the actual workshop, but the meeting area is completed, other than the 'finishing touches' of just where the television is to be placed, or the Honour Board and such...

With over $70,000 raised in the community and a further $23,000 from the Barossa Council the Mount Pleasant Mens' Shed is truly a community venture.

Work began, with Hughes Construction supporting the project and assisting where necessary in the beginning. The shed is built at Old Talunga Park, opposite the Mount Pleasant Bowling Club, and the site has been built-up as required, above the 100 year flood level. Further updates will be available as progress is made…. check out their Facebook page for the latest picturesAT LAST... The Mount Pleasant Mens Shed Inc. is now in the building stage... Preparation for the footings began on 28th April 2016, but it is the extra detail that keeps the men on their toes...

and at last... the footings went down, with polished floor for the kitchen, of course.  Timber, which had been milled many months ago, was brought to the site and sorted before it went away to be certified for the construction. Then the work began, with the timber structure being constructed by the builders in the team, and the shed is now rising from the ashes...

By November 2016 the framework was nearing completion, with the roof trusses in place... and work continued throughout 2017.

The official opening was held on 14 February 2018.
