The Mount Pleasant Street Party held on 5th December 2015, was heralded a great success, with the very warm day leading into a balmy evening, allowing visitors and locals to stay and enjoy the entertainment that had been planned by the Committee.
A Street Parade began the evening at 5.30pm, starting at Talunga Recreation Park, with floats parading Melrose Street for more than a kilometre, to end their journey at the Soldiers Memorial Hall

First prize was awarded to the Trojan Horse, an entry submitted by the Mount Pleasant Mens’ Shed Inc. with construction carried out by John Bowd. Even members were unaware of the entry, prior to the morning of the Parade.
Second prize went to the Mount Pleasant Primary School entry – Christmas around the world.
Third prize went to the Quirky Shed, another entry by the Mount Pleasant Mens’ Shed Inc, with design by Barry Liddicoat and construction by Barry and John Bowd.
The newly formed Mount Pleasant Choir – ‘On the Edge’ – made their debut at the Street Party, with songs to put the Christmas spirit into those who stayed to listen.
An enjoyable evening was had by all, with plenty of food, drinks and entertainment on offer, as well as the Makers Market in the Soldiers Memorial Hall.
